We had a lovely breakfast at the Crinan Hotel and hopped in the car and tackled some more single track road before hooking up with some two lane. We stopped in Oban for a bit of a break and stretched our legs by climbing up to McCabe's Tower overlooking the harbour. A coliseum like structure that was created as a make work project for unemployed stone masons in the late 1800's.
We found the Oban Distillery and took a tour. Unfortunately no electronic devices (cameras) permitted due to the explosion hazard. We did get to sample a wee dram though.
We diverted from our track a bit to drive a bit of the pass at Glencoe. Beautiful scenery that would have been stunning on a sunny day.
Passing through Fort William we followed along side a series of lochs, Loch Linnhe, Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and Loch Ness. These are all connected by canals and locks to provide passage to pleasure boats and small commercial vessels across Scotland.
We stopped near Drumnadrochit to visit Urquhart Castle. Possibly the ancient home of the Durward Clan.
We searched but saw no signs of Nessie!
After the castle tour it was on to Inverness and our hotel on the River Ness, right in the heart of downtown.
After a long day and drive, a visit to the Johnny Fox's Pub was in order.

Some of those hill and loch shots look a little like those you took in the Queenstown area of NZ eh?
