A tour of Scotland has been one thing that has been on our travel wish list for a number of years. When our friends called to see if we wanted to do the Coast to Coast walk in Northern England this summer we thought it would be a great opportunity to combine the two into an extended trip to the UK. The subject of this blog will be the Scotland part of our trip.
We will start by flying from Toronto to Glasgow where we will rent a car and try to visit some of the many hi lights our friends who are from there or have travelled there have suggested as "must see".
We have a general plan as shown below but it will be subject to change.
Our schedule will be flexible and for the most part will be booking accomodation as we go. We thought this would be best given the variable weather (just watch the British Open and you will know what I mean).
We have packed a range of clothing for wet and dry but not too much for hot. If we get that kind of weather, it will be a bonus and you can always buy shorts!
I am going to try to publish a blog entry every day that we have internet access at our B&B's and hotels. This requires hauling a lot of gear!
We hope you will enjoy the photos and the description of our Scottish adventure. You can save the link to this blog and check it as you wish or sign up for the e-mail version to the right which will automatically be sent to you each time it is updated. (The web version is much prettier than the e-mail or mobile version)
Thanks for following our latest travel adventure.

Wow, I didn't know you were going to Scotland. It should be fun and I will follow your travels, because, I am going to Scotland too! First week of September. You will pass within 8 miles of Blue Folds Cottages where I am staying, on your way to Aberlour. Are you going to hit the Talisker Distillery or PrĂ¡ban na Linne on The Isle of Skye?
ReplyDeleteOh ya, in case you forgot who the person with the dumb user name is, it's Mark W.
ReplyDeleteI'm here following your travels as usual, Jim and Chris. Have a super trip. The pictures are stunning already and it's only day one. When I see some sheep, I'll be really interested. LOL
ReplyDeleteNice car, you're going to have a lot of fun. Might want to pick up some travel sickness accessories for Chris though... Looks like you've had some sunshine, which is great, and yes, they probably have had a lot of rain lately, that's a given. As for narrow roads, wait for the single lane roads! Enjoy your trip, we'll be following your travels.
